If we determine that your dog needs therapy during our evaluation, he must live in our pack with us 24/7 for at least 21 days. The (minimum) three-week duration is important to give your dog a chance to “acclimatize” sustainably to the new behavior. (Mammals usually can’t change their behaviors before 21 days have passed).

Of course, it’s vital that your dog doesn’t live in a kennel, but still continues to take part in our normal professional and family life, as that’s what will happen with you later on.

We need to emphasize here once again that dogs are living beings! We can’t flick a switch and make your dog function as desired, nor can we repair him or reprogram him like a computer. You must be prepared to go in a new direction with your dog, as the old direction evidently led to behavioral problems.

Success is only possible if both you as the owner and your dog change and work on your behavior consistently and persistently. Moreover, every dog is an individual. One dog might need stricter rules his whole life long than another dog. A different dog might need a higher workload requiring more of his owner’s time. A third could need more sensitivity and patience from his owner. These are just some of the many factors that influence dog training. We believe that training is two-sided, and that these two sides work together and equally important. Of course, we’ll help you along the way sharing our knowledge.

THE THERAPY PROCESS:

In the first few days, after getting enough exercise, your dog will get to know all the dogs in the pack, one by one. He’ll adapt to the behavior of our other dogs. That’s his instinct – although we all know that he’ll eventually come back home, he doesn’t know that and naturally, he has to adapt to the behavior of the pack as quickly as possible to survive.

This process takes place at least four days per week, always in a large, healthy and balanced pack that allows your dog to learn the permitted behaviors, rules and limits. Regardless of how skilled your dog trainer is, we are still humans. The best teachers for dogs, who mostly learn by imitating, are and will always be other dogs!

Along with the work in the pack, we also work individually with your dog so that he can learn which behaviors are desired and that humans generally set the limits.

As soon as we determine that your dog is no longer demonstrating any problematic behavior to us and we’ve figured out the concrete cause of his previous behavior, we will integrate you into the training as his owner, step by step.
You and your dog have the chance to find each other again and embark on a new, harmonious and balanced path together. Your dog will learn that the new behaviors, rules and limits don’t just apply with us, but also with you.
You will learn what you need to do specifically to understand your dog better and to keep him balanced.

If we determine together that you and your dog are satisfied with the training and consider it a success, then we’ve done everything right and therapy will end.

Of course, we’ll always be at your side with guidance and resources.
